How is this calculated?

Formula: Taxable income = Gross − standard deduction of ₹75,000. Slab tax is then computed and 4% cess added. A rebate applies up to ₹12.00 lakh of taxable income.

Example: On a gross of ₹12,00,000, taxable income is ₹11,25,000 and the rebate brings the tax to nil.

  • The new regime is the default — you must opt out to use the old one.
  • Run both calculators side by side before filing.
  • Business income has restrictions on switching regimes each year.

Your entries are user inputs; rates and returns you cannot control are assumptions. Results are illustrative, not a statutory computation.

Frequently asked questions

Which regime is the default?

The new regime is the default. You must opt out to be taxed under the old regime.

Can I claim 80C here?

No. Most deductions including 80C are not available under the new regime; the higher standard deduction partly compensates.

Statutory limits used here reflect FY 2025-26 (AY 2026-27). Results are illustrative and do not constitute tax, legal or investment advice. Speak to a Bluman Chartered Accountant before acting on them.
