Service overview

What this service is

This return covers income from business or profession, filed with a profit and loss account and balance sheet. It is for proprietors, freelancers, consultants, doctors, agencies and any professional whose income is not primarily salary. Bluman reconciles your books to the return, compares presumptive taxation under 44AD/44ADA against normal taxation, reviews expense allowability and prepares the depreciation schedule before filing.

Who needs it

Proprietors, professionals, freelancers and consultants with income from business or profession, whether taxed on regular books or under a presumptive scheme.

What Bluman will do

  • Determine whether the presumptive scheme or regular books-based computation applies and is beneficial, and check the turnover and receipt limits that govern the choice.
  • Compile the profit and loss account and balance sheet from your books, or build a summary computation where books are informal.
  • Test the reasonableness of expenses claimed and flag disallowances that commonly arise, including cash payments above the permitted limit and unpaid statutory dues.
  • Reconcile gross receipts with GST returns, Form 26AS and the AIS, since a mismatch here is the most common trigger for scrutiny.
  • Compute depreciation, adjust brought-forward losses, prepare the computation and file the correct ITR form with e-verification.

Key deliverables

  • Computation with financial statements
  • Filed return with acknowledgement
  • Note on disallowances and reconciliation differences

Depends on the state of the books; the stated turnaround assumes reasonably complete records.

  • · Government fees, portal charges and applicable taxes are billed at actuals.
  • · Timelines start once complete documents and information are received.
  • · Outcomes that depend on a government authority cannot be guaranteed, but every step is tracked and communicated.

Forms and filings involved

  • ITR-3 / ITR-4

Return form for business or professional income, regular or presumptive as applicable.

  • Form 26AS / AIS

Tax credit and reported transaction records used for reconciliation.

Documents required

  • Books of account, or bank statements and receipt records where books are informal
  • Profit and loss account and balance sheet, if already prepared
  • GST returns filed for the year
  • Fixed asset details for depreciation
  • TDS certificates and challans for advance or self-assessment tax paid

What we need from you

  • Provide complete receipts data — undisclosed receipts visible in the AIS create avoidable exposure.
  • Pay self-assessment tax before filing.

Important conditions

  • Bookkeeping and tax audit are separate services.
  • Assessment and refund rest with the department.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need audited books to file this return?

Not always. Tax audit applies only when the thresholds under Section 44AB are crossed. Applicability is checked as part of the engagement, and a separate Tax Audit service is available if it applies.

Can you compare presumptive taxation with normal taxation?

Yes. Both are computed on your actual figures so you can see the tax difference before choosing.

What if my books are incomplete?

Missing data is flagged during the books-to-return reconciliation. Bookkeeping is available as a separate service if your accounts need to be brought up to date first.
